Building a Better World.

Building a Better World.

Our Mission

Partner with communities and develop leaders to build a better world.

Our Approach

Working with Communities

We work directly with our community partners to identify challenges and develop solutions based on their needs and priorities.

Building for the Long Term

We focus on designing practical, sustainable systems that communities can maintain and continue using over time, from gravity-fed water systems to improved sanitation facilities.

Supporting Health and Education

Engineering is only one part of our work. We also support efforts such as health surveys, sanitation education, and maintenance training to help projects have a lasting impact.

Developing Student Leaders

Through hands-on project work, students gain experience with design, project management, communication, and working across cultures and disciplines.

What We Do

Engineers Without Borders at Yale is a student-run organization that works with communities to develop sustainable solutions to local challenges. Since our founding in 2004, our members have worked alongside community partners, mentors, and faculty advisors to design projects that make a lasting impact.

Our team brings together students from a wide range of academic backgrounds. While engineering is a major part of what we do, our projects depend on collaboration, communication, and perspectives from across disciplines.

Our Projects

Machacamarca, Bolivia (2023 - )

Currently, we're partnering with the Machacamarca community to build sustainable, easy-to-maintain latrine systems that give families safe and reliable sanitation access.

Naitolia, Tanzania (2017 - 2023)

We worked alongside the Naitolia community to restore their local watershed pond and extend their water pipeline so everyone had clean water year-round.

Roh, Cameroon (2014 - 2023)

We teamed up with residents in Roh to upgrade their gravity-fed water system while leading community health workshops to help prevent waterborne illnesses.
